Scholarships
The following are the CABA at-large scholarships available to any currently enrolled law student through our Cuban American Bar Foundation:
- Osvaldo Soto Scholarship - $500.00
- Judge Margarita Esquiroz Scholarship - $4,500.00
- CABA Scholarship - $2500.00
- CABA Scholarship - $2500.00
- CABA Scholarship - $2500.00
The application deadline is October 1 of each academic year. To be eligible for consideration for all of these scholarships, law students must meet the criteria attached hereto. Applicants need only submit one application package to be considered for all at-large scholarships. The CABA Scholarship Committee will make its selections from those submissions it receives and formally announce the recipients at the CABA Fall Mentor Program Reception in October or November of each year.
In addition to the at-large scholarships, CABA has endowed scholarships at the following law schools:
- University of Miami
- Florida International University (2)
- St. Thomas University
- Nova Southeastern University
- Florida State University
- University of Florida
Students enrolled in these law schools should contact the Dean of Students in the respective school to get scholarship criteria and application deadlines. October 1 is the latest for acceptance of school submittals. Recipients of these endowed scholarships will also be announced at the Fall Mentor Reception.

Criteria of Eligibility:
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Meet either of the following descriptions:
a. A Cuban American law student who has distinguished
himself/herself academically and /or in service oriented activities.
b. Any law student who has distinguished himself/herself in research,
writing, community services, and/or other activities of importance to
the Cuban-American community.
2. Submit a complete formal application for the CABA Scholarship, which
shall include:
a. A competitive essay (no more than 1,000 words) focusing on an
describing in detail the activities and achievements that qualify
him/her for the award (See 1 above).
b. An updated resume
c. A copy of his/her transcript.
3. Be a currently enrolled student in good academic standing at an accredited
law school.
