Judge Robert N. Scola, Jr. Robert N. Scola, Jr. serves on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Judge Scola earned a bachelor's degree in 1977 from Brown University and a law degree in 1980 from Boston College School of Law. From 1980 until 1986, Scola worked in the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney. From 1986 until 1995, he worked in private legal practice, both as a sole legal practitioner and also as a criminal defense attorney. In 1995, Scola became a judge on Florida's Eleventh Judicial Circuit presiding over criminal, civil and family law matters. On May 4, 2011, President Obama nominated Judge Scola to serve as a judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Judge Scola would fill the seat vacated by Judge Paul Huck, who took senior status in August 2010. JUDGE MARIA D. ORTIZ The Honorable Maria D. Ortiz is a County Court Judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court. She presides over a Criminal Division at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building since January 2004. She has been a member of the Florida Bar for the past twenty years and has served as a judge for fourteen of those years. She previously served as a Judge of Compensation Claims for almost seven years. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Ortiz was an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Miami from February 1994 through June 1997. She also worked with the law firms of Marlow, Connell, Valerius, Abrams, Lowe & Adler and with Daniels, Kashtan & Fornaris, P.A. While a Judge of Compensation Claims, Governor Bush appointed her to serve on the Governor’s Commission on Workers’ Compensation Reform. Judge Victoria del Pino Judge Victoria del Pino has been a County Court Judge in Miami-Dade County since January 2007. She has been presiding exclusively over Domestic Violence Cases since March 2008 and in the Criminal Traffic Division prior to that. Separate from her work on the bench, she serves as the Co-Vice Chair of the Domestic Violence Committee of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar since 2009, served as Vice-Chair of the Florida Bar Criminal Rules of Procedure Committee of the Florida Bar and Legislative Chair for the Conference of County Court Judges of the State of Florida since 2009. She has most recently been nominated by Commissioner Bruno A. Barreiro to the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust’s Domestic Violence Oversight Board and presented a CLE to the Miami-Dade Legal Support Association on “What Every Paralegal and Legal Assistant Should Know About Domestic Violence Cases”. JUDGE ANA MARIA PANDO JUDGE ANA MARIA PANDO serves as a Miami-Dade County Judge where she has presided since January 2001. Since 2004 Judge Pando has presided over county civil cases, including, small claims, collection actions, landlord-tenant cases, and as Acting Circuit Court Judge over domestic violence matters. Judge Pando was assigned to the Miami-Dade County Court Criminal Division from January 2001 to June of 2004.
