Sergio Mendez was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1985. He practiced with his late father for fifteen years. His practice is limited to Guardianship, Probate and Real Property law. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Sergio graduated from SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the President of the LAW OFFICES MENDEZ & MENDEZ. Sergio served as President of the Cuban American Bar Association in 1999 and on its Board of Directors for fifteen years. He has been licensed for over ten years by the U.S. Department of Treasury- Office of Foreign Assets Control, as a Licensed Attorney concerning the Cuban Asset Control Regulations. He travels frequently to Cuba to represent Cuban heirs in U.S. Probate cases. He has served as a Professor at the Florida International University Legal Studies Institute teaching Wills, Trusts and Estates. Sergio has served on the Board of Directors of the Guardianship Program of Dade County, Inc. since 2003. He served as its President from 2006-2008. GPDC is the Public Guardian for Elderly, Indigent, Incapacitated Persons for Miami-Dade County. Sergio also served on the Judicial Nominating Commission 11th Judicial Circuit by appointment of Florida Bar Board of Governors 2000-2004 and was the Co-Chairperson 2003-04. He has published legal articles concerning mortgage foreclosures, the Cuban Assets Control Regulations and probate litigation.
