Judge Abby Cynamon
Judge Abby Cynamon is a Circuit Court Judge serving in the Juvenile Delinquency Division. She was elected in 2008 and has served in the Juvenile Delinquency Division since January 2009.
Before her election to the Circuit Court, Judge Cynamon was a Supervising Assistant General Counsel for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Miami, Florida from 2000 to 2008. Previously, from 1993 to 2000, she served as an Assistant General Counsel for the Circuit.
Judge Cynamon spent her teens in foster care. She overcame the challenges she faced as a foster child by concentrating on her education. Judge Cynamon attended Barnard College on a scholarship, obtaining her college degree with a major in History and Economics. She earned her J.D. and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law.
Judge Cynamon is a Past President of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (“FAWL”). She is a former Board Member of the Dade County Bar Association. She is a proud member of CABA, FAWL, and the Dade County Bar Association.
Every day, in her work as a juvenile court judge, Judge Cynamon draws on her experiences in foster care, advising the juveniles who appear in her court that education is the road to success.
In addition to her judicial duties, Judge Cynamon currently serves as a Member of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Social Media Committee, and as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Miami-Dade County Law Library.
