Francisco "Frank" Angones, 2007-2008 President of The Florida Bar, is a civil trial lawyer with over 90 jury trials.

 

Mr. Angones was born in Havana, Cuba and is fully bilingual. He came to the United States from Cuba, as an unaccompanied child in the Peter Pan program in 1961. He obtained his B.A. degree, Magna Cum Laude in 1972 andhisJDdegreein1976andhasanAVratingfromMartindale-Hubbell. He is ranked one of the top lawyers in South Florida by Super Lawyers and Florida Trend magazine. He serves as the founding partner of Angones, McClure and Garcia, P.A. in Miami, Florida.

 

Mr. Angones has held additional Bar positions, including President of the Dade County Bar Association and the Cuban-American Bar Association. He currently serves on the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Legal Education Fund and of the American Bar Association’s Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights and Responsibilities.

 

Mr. Angones is the recipient of several honors including: the 2010 Spirit of Excellence Award by the American Bar Association on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession; the 2008 Jurisprudence Award presented by the Anti-Defamation League; the 2008 Henry Latimer Diversity Award in recognition by the Equal Opportunities Law Section of the Florida Bar, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers and the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association for outstanding contribution and dedication to the ideals and aspirations of Henry Latimer; the 2007 Silver Medallion for Humanitarianism from the Miami Coalition of Christians and Jews. Lastly, he has been named as one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States by the Hispanic Business Magazine.
