Armando J. Bucelo, Jr. is an attorney in private practice in Coral Gables since 1979, Florida, specializing primarily in corporate, banking, real estate and transactional work.  He earned his Associates in Science Degree from Miami Dade College and his Juris Doctor and Bachelor Degrees from the University of Miami.  As the recipient of various community and civic awards throughout the years, Mr. Bucelo has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Miami Dade College for the past twelve years.  For over twenty years, he served as Special Counsel to the Code Enforcement Board of the City of Miami, and Special Advisor to the City of Miami.  In 1995, he was also named Chairman the Cuban-American National Republican Senatorial Committee.  He was appointed by former President George Bush as the First Hispanic as well as First Floridian ever selected to the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac).   In 2000, he was appointed at the recommendation of the White House as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Housing Development Corporation, one of the most prestigious affordable housing institutions in the nation.  In 2002, he was appointed by President George W. Bush as Chairman of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), one of the highest appointments ever made to a Hispanic (Cuban-American) by the any administration.  In the local scene, he has been involved in a myriad of community activities including being on the Board of Directors of the YMCA, the American Red Cross, past President of the Downtown Miami Business Association, past President of the Cuban-American Bar Association, etc.  On July 14, 2006, Mr. Bucelo became the first Cuban-American ever to ring the closing bell of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).  He has been honored as one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the country on numerous occasions by many entities over the past 20 years including recently in the October 2006 issue of Hispanic Business Magazine.  On a personal note, he is a master at Chess, and a black belt in Karate.  He and his wife Beatriz are the parents of Alexis Marie (25 years old), an attorney, Armando Joseph (24 years old), a first year law student and Alexander Luis (18 years old), a future attorney.
